나이아가라폭포(Niagara Falls)

 

 

 

Niagara Falls is known as one of the world's top three waterfalls, along with Iguazu in South America and Victoria Falls in Africa. It is a huge waterfall with a height of 50m and a total width of 1km, and was formed about 12,000 years ago.

 

 

Niagara Falls was one of the must-see waterfalls before I died, so I had a lot of difficulty preparing for my trip. I went there in 2017. I was supposed to travel to Quebec, Canada. The popular and beautiful drama Goblin: The Lonely and Great God of Korea recognized Quebec and changed its plan to watch Niagara Falls.

 

 

 

 

 

Quebec chose Niagara Falls first to see the beautiful autumn leaves in the fall of 2020, but has not been able to go so far. It was really heartbreaking when I canceled it because of the corona I planned a year ago. But I'm happy to see Niagara Falls in the past. If I travel abroad freely again, I will go to Quebec first.

 

 

Anyway, it cannot be denied that Niagara Falls is a very magnificent and beautiful waterfall. Niagara Falls is said to be largely divided into two stems because of Got Island (American territory), a alluvial island. So you can see Niagara Falls on American soil, but I heard it's bigger and cooler in Canada. I haven't seen Niagara Falls in the United States yet, so I can't compare them, but both countries will have beautiful waterfalls.

 

 

So the waterfall between Canada's Got Island and Ontario is also called Hoshu Falls or Canada Falls, which is about 53 meters high, about 790 meters wide, and the border passes through the center. The American waterfall in the northeast of Got Island is about 250m high and 320m wide. It is said that 94% of Niagara Falls' rivers flow to Hoschu Falls.

 

 

 

 

 

 

Niagara Falls is well known to the natives, but it was discovered by immigrants by French missionary Hennephing in 1678. He was promoted as a representative of Mother Nature in the New World and became known to the world. It was once called the world's No. 1 waterfall. But after that, Iguazu Falls and Victoria Falls became known to the world and are now the first waterfalls in North America.

 

 

It is said that the water flowing from Iriho Lake, one of the five great lakes, flows 35km and follows Nia Falls when the current is urgent. The water from this waterfall is said to flow back to Lake Ontario. About 10,000 years ago, after the last ice age, the downstream of the waterfall was only 11km. However, Niagara Falls is said to be retreating 1 to 2 meters per year as water flowing down about 7,000 tons per second continues to peel off the rocks. I may not be able to see Niagara Falls someday.

 

 

 

 

 

Therefore, I strongly recommend that you visit Niagara Falls at least once if you have a chance to feel the greatness of nature.
